Mariana Preda is a Pan Flute artist and Singer based in Amsterdam.
She graduated with a Bachelor's and Master's Degree from the Conservatory of Amsterdam in the Netherlands under the guidance of Matthijs Koene.
She released many albums with the Italian label MAP from Milan.
Mariana won numerous music awards and she took part in many music competitions and festivals such as:
IBLA Grand Prize, UNTOLD Festival, Vondelpark Festival, Uitmarkt, Grachten Festival, Prix Annelie de Man, Gaudeamus Festival, Romanian Days.
She performed in various cities around the world such as Bucharest, Cluj, Milan, Rome, Amsterdam, Brussels, London, Cairo, Havana, New York, Chicago Cultural Center and Los Angeles.
Mariana has been given a special prize at the Palace of Parliament in Bucharest for being one of the best Romanian students abroad in the field of the arts, a recognition that also rewards her activity of promoting the pan flute all over the world.
On 5th May 2019, Mariana got an Honorary Citizenship of the city of Jacksonville, Arkansas, handed by Mayor Bob Johnson.
On 7th May 2019, Mariana had her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York.
In addition to performing Mariana is a pan flute teacher who is interested in enriching the panflute pedagogy, techniques, and repertoire. She held many masterclasses at institutions around the world including Radford University, Harding University, and Lion College.
Mariana is a co-founder member of the following ensembles:

Cununa Ensemble which is promoting the bond between folk-jazz and classical music in different types of musical arrangements;

Amsterdam Panflute Quartet, the first contemporary panflute quartet which aims to promote original works written for this ensemble;

MsounD, Mariana Preda & Daisuke Kanamaru, a duo piano-panflute focused on classical and contemporary repertoire.
Besides her music accomplishments, Mariana is also an award-winning actress and director.
She was cast by Italian director Nikolas Grasso at the age of 16 for the movie “Doina, which won her two best actress awards, one at the Monaco International Film Festival and the other at the Festival du Cinema de Paris. In 2014 she directed her first short film called ‘Life’, which was premiered in Seattle at NFFTY (National Film Festival for Talented Youth), the largest world film festival for young directors, and was awarded the “Independent Spirit Award” at the European Premiere during the Monaco International Film Festival held in Montecarlo.
