BIO

Mariana Preda is a pan flute artist, singer, and educator based in Amsterdam. She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Conservatory of Amsterdam.

​

She has released multiple albums with the Milan-based label MAP and has received numerous international awards. Her career includes performances at major festivals such as IBLA Grand Prize, Gaudeamus Festival, Grachten Festival, Uitmarkt, UNTOLD Festival, and Prix Annelie de Man.

​

Mariana has performed internationally in cities including Amsterdam, Milan, Rome, London, Brussels, Bucharest, Cairo, Havana, New York, Los Angeles, and at venues such as Carnegie Hall and the Chicago Cultural Center. She received Honorary Citizenship of Jacksonville, Arkansas, and a special award from the Romanian Parliament for excellence and cultural promotion abroad.

Alongside her performance career, Mariana is an active educator dedicated to expanding pan flute pedagogy and repertoire. She has led masterclasses at institutions including Radford University, Harding University, and Lyon College.

​

She is a co-founder of several ensembles: Cununa Ensemble (folk-jazz and classical fusion), Amsterdam Panflute Quartet (the first contemporary pan flute quartet), and MsounD, a piano–pan flute duo focused on classical and contemporary music.

​

In addition to music, Mariana is an award-winning actress and director. She starred in Doina, earning Best Actress awards at the Monaco International Film Festival and the Festival du Cinéma de Paris. Her debut short film Life premiered at NFFTY in Seattle and received the Independent Spirit Award at the Monaco International Film Festival.
